Friday Five: 5 Steps to Showcase your Facebook Photostream…

The new Facebook profile layout has its new obvious features but did you know there are some hidden secrets for customizing your profile design?

Facebook recently added the new photo stream , some refer to as “profile photo bar” which displays 5 photos on your page to show your friends what you have been up to. Now this can be a good thing especially if 1 of the 5 photos is showing off just how good you looked out last weekend. The bad thing is these photos are picked from recently tagged pictures. I don’t know about you but getting “tagged” can either end up being your best friend or worst nightmare…

But friends, we all know the reality with tagged photos. Most of the time we are rushing to the nearest computer to “un-tag” ourselves because it just so happens those photos your friend told you they wouldn’t upload well guess what? They did…

So here’s good news to relieve you from “tagging” anxiety.  The 5 steps below will lead you to a personalized photostream by allowing you to select which pictures you more than “like” to display in your new profile photo bar.

5 Steps: Personalize Photostream

1. Fire up your favorite image editor (this can be GIMP, Adobe Photoshop, or anything a slightly more advanced than MS Paint).

2. Load an image of your choice.

3. Resize its dimensions to 485 by 68 pixels (crop any unwanted area before resizing your image).

4. Once your happy with how your image looks cut or crop the image into 5 pieces of 97 by 68 pixels each and save them (this effect can be acheived with 4, 3 or even just 2 images as well).

5. Upload the five pieces to a Facebook album and start tagging yourself in reverse order. That means the part of the image that’s supposed to appear FIRST, should be tagged LAST. And you should start with the right end of the cut-up image. To ensure accuracy of tagging your pix keep your album in normal view rather than in the edit album mode.

Now that you’ve completed the 5 steps it’s time to view your updated profile! Looks nice, eh?
