Friday Five: How to Use Social Media Entertainment Edition

Whether you are about to launch an underground indie club, or an outdoor venue geared towards families, the opportunities are endless when diving into social media platforms. The tricky part can be trying to decide which ones deserve your energy and how to gain the greatest amount of buzz.

Facebook: You want potential customers to get a feel of your venue before they even step foot on the dance floor. Create a landing page that will let them know what they are getting themselves into. Have a schedule posted, or a playlist of the music they may hear, create an atmosphere with one click and watch your followers grow.

Flickr: If you are throwing an event or it’s just another exciting weekend, have a photographer capture the energy. Who doesn’t want to have a professional picture taken of their outfit they’ve worked on all night? Create a Flickr and have photos from the night uploaded there and connected on your website or Facebook. Customers will come back next week if they know their pictures may end up on their favorite venues website.

Blog: This is where you can connect to the people you know will be coming back time and time again. If your club has an indie vibe, there is a specific audience you want to relate to. The same goes for hip-hop, classic rock, or local bands.  Tap into that scene, the fashion, the music, and the culture you’ll be the “go to place” for the latest information in that industry.  On top of that, Blog consistently and watch your Google rankings shoot through the roof.

Foursquare: Do you hear the music pounding down the street from your venue? Or do you offer an incredible drink special that just can’t seem to reach potential customers? Hop onto Foursquare and catch the customers who are interested in what you have to offer. When they check into that club with the music you can hear down the street, they will see your special and walk right on over to test it out.

YouTube: Create an account and take videos of events going on at your venue. Post them onto the Facebook page and show off the music and excitement happening where you are. Make it look fun, and they will come.
