It seems as though the past two months have been filled with Facebook advances and new announcements about cutting edge tools for social media. First they announce a feature such as Places and then go on to enhance it within a rapid two months.
The incentive
Now checking in will not only inform your friends where you are at the moment and who you are with, but Deals will also appear on your mobile device. Facebook has given checking-in an incentive, not just more self-promoting that your friends might care less about. The only time I saw a reason for checking in was when I was doing homework at Barnes & Noble, my friend checked in on my News Feed and we were able to meet up and ride home together. Still pretty cool.
It is creating not only a social incentive but a monetary one as well. Deals is able to take the check-ins from other sites such as Foursquare and integrate it to your Facebook account with single sign in, allowing you to see who else has checked in through other customer connecting platforms.
What kind of Deals can be expected…
Individuals can check-in where they are and see other deals surrounding them via a yellow icon next to that merchant. Simply click, check-in, and show deal to the cashier.
Friend deals will be given to a group when checking-in and tagging multiple people who are with you.
Loyalty deals will be given much like a virtual punch card. For example, check-in five times and receive an extra bonus at your favorite coffee shop.
Charities can also see the benefits when customers decide to donate to their cause through a merchant’s offer.
The connection
Facebook understands how important it is to connect all of these different sites. It can become tiring signing into your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Foursquare accounts every day to essentially try to do the same thing: connect.
What do you think is next?
