5 Great Posts Across Social Media This Week

This week in social media there were plenty of eye-catching posts and announcements. So which ones were the most impressive, and created the most buzz? Here are our Top 5.

Katy Perry catapulted a social campaign into full force for her new video “Last Friday Night”. She has a hashtag, an impressive Twitter and Facebook presence, and probably some of the most loyal fans anyone can find. She is smart and using social as a way to bolster her art, and make it that much more exciting for her fans. She has given each follower the chance to have a true voice, and the chance to take part in her absurdly colorful endeavors.

Disney created a simple and conversation driving post when this was put up on their Facebook. They took what they do, chose one element of the experience, and asked fans what they would like to see. It seems like a no brainer, but many companies find it difficult to realize simple, is sometimes better. It was easy for followers to read and then respond to. Their voice was heard, and Disney is sure to use this feedback in creating their next successful race.

Camille Styles is a great example of someone who is far from a big business, and still manages to utilize social media for optimal influence. While working on a Party Planning Checklist for HGTV she used her 2,000 plus Twitter followers for some creative input. Followers felt like they not only had influence in her suggestions, but could also see their ideas on HGTV. Rolling Stone is another Tweeter who takes their Twitter to the next level. Before select interviews with celebrities Rolling Stone will ask their followers what questions they’ve always wanted answered by big names such as Coldplay.

Soon to be brides can now rejoice with MyRegistry.com’s new iPhone application. This app combines registries from multiple stores and allows you to keep track of it while reclining by the pool. The helpful barcode feature allows for easy additions to the registry whenever a new registry must-have may be found. Wedding planning just became that much easier.

Drumroll please…. the day has finally come. Rebecca Black’s incessantly annoying YouTube disaster “Friday” has been removed from YouTube. Unfortunately, it is still available on iTunes for the super fans, or for those who insist on annoying their coworkers every Friday afternoon. However, for the rest of us out there it has finally been ripped from its original YouTube stomping grounds. Of course there is some debate over the reason why it has been removed, but honestly does it matter? What’s important is the most hated viral video has been removed and we can finally start remembering what real music sounds like.
